It has been brought to my attentions that a certain Insurance company representatives have advised you not to pay our bill for electronic billing because they have no idea why you are paying for electronic billing etc. I am keeping their name off this letter because they called me and said calls from Payfast clients about our bill and newsletter we sent out a couple weeks ago are overwhelming them. So let me clarify what I can:

1. Clearing houses ARE NOT FREE. No matter what anyone tells you. Just ask yourself can you live by giving away free service to everyone?
2. Your electronic billing comes out of my pocket first. So if you don’t pay my family and I are out.
3. I couldn’t have afforded to pay your electronic billing for the last 4 years or so, meaning someone was and if you and I were not paying that leaves the clearing house or the provider. The clearinghouse is not going to work for free.
4. One of the doctors at the insurance company representative said they never stopped paying Emdeon; the other clearinghouse involved in this matter. I know that is a conflict of what they have told some of you that they have never paid Emdeon but again no one works for free.
5. All this for 15 cents a claim is not worth the headaches. A paper HCFA cost you 2 cents, 9 cents to mail, another cent or two for an envelope plus all the wear and tear on your printer, the ink (6 cents a claim) and (toner 2.5 cents a claim) used, then the labor of folding and stuffing, manually checking, and on and on. Just do your homework on the web and look up paper claims vs. electronic claims. The average paper claim is going out around 7 dollars vs. 3 dollars with labor, rejections, and collections all thrown in.

Now for more bad news! This only really affects the user who does under 15 dollars a month. Everyone has seen the pop ups and warnings on Anvicare, you may not have read them or paid them any heed but as of September there is a 15 dollar minimum. Again this is not an extra fee for people who use 15 or more dollars worth of claims but for the people who do not. Anvicare does support for all who wish to call them. There is a lot of clients who tie them up on the phone for hours and are only doing 3 or 4 claims a week. They need to get support fees as all software companies to stay in business. And they are still cheaper than other companies we have run across. We have been shopping around and you get what you pay for. Some take two weeks to call you back; others just don’t care one way or another.

Again this is nothing to do with Payfast. We are in the middle. If you shop around other software companies charge thousands of dollars just for support, at least 50 dollars a month for electronic billing, most a lot more. If you don’t use the service they will not charge. So if you are going to use it do all your billing that you can electronic to off set cost.

I’m truly sorry the Insurance refunds are not as good as they should be, if I could change that I would, you all deserve to be treated better than you are. I’m way under paid too but I enjoy knowing I’m helping others. I hope you are all having a great summer besides all this stuff going on. Feel free to call if you have any questions or concerns.
